ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Pennsylvania State Police cancelled the New York State Amber Alert for a child abduction that occurred late Thursday night.
An Amber Alert was issued by police at 9:20 p.m. Thursday regarding 10-year-old Alexandria Jade Long. The alert was cancelled around 11 p.m.; authorities say Alexandria Long has been found safe. Police have not released any futher details on the alert's cancellation.
Reports say the suspect, 39-year-old Peter Tarbox, of
Gordon, Pa., was taken
into custody in the town of Gouverneur in St. Lawrence County.
The alert was issued for a green Saab heading toward the town of Norwood, N.Y. Police said the suspect may be operating this vehicle and it was last seen traveling North on I-81 near Syracuse, N.Y.
The suspect is the former acquaintance of the abducted child's mother from seven years ago, and is a stranger to the child.
