Ulster Co. Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal accident

MARBLETOWN, N.Y. -- Deputies and detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred early Wednesday on Route 209 in the Town of Marbletown.

Detectives report that an 18-wheel tractor trailer was traveling southbound on Rt. 209 and a pickup truck was traveling northbound. Near the intersection of Whitelands Road, the vehicles collided causing the tractor trailer to push the pickup truck off the roadway. The tractor trailer then overturned spilling an undetermined amount of diesel fuel as well as construction debris that it had been hauling.

The tractor trailer was operated by Ciro P. Rodrigues, 40, of N. Broadway in Yonkers, N.Y. The pickup was operated by Peter S. Hull, 42, of Berme Road in Ellenville. Hull was declared dead at the scene by members of the Ulster Co. Medical Examiner's Office.

Detectives advise that the investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Ulster County Sheriff's Office at 845-338-3640
