ALBANY, N.Y. - The teenager who pleaded guilty to stabbing a New York State Trooper is expected to be sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday.
Eighteen-year-old Eric Green pleaded guilty in July to attempted murder and robbery. Green stabbed an on-duty State Trooper in the neck at the Empire State Plaza concourse in March.
Authorities say Green told the trooper he was homeless and needed a place to stay. Trooper Rodney Smith then asked the teen for his ID to check for outstanding warrants, which is when Green attacked.
Green is expected to be sentenced to 30 years in State Prison. Trooper Smith is expected to give a victim impact statement at Thursday's sentencing.
