CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- With
just two days left, The Saratoga County Animal Shelter's annex still doesn't
have a new home after mall managers decided to rent their current space to a paying customer.
The annex, currently
located at the Clifton Park Center, had 40 cats to adopt out at the beginning
of the week. As of Thursday that number is down to 18 as volunteers attempt to
find forever homes for the animals.
The mall's general manager
says they will soon be renting the space to a new tenant. The annex has been
using the space at no cost for four years, but must be out of the space by
a previous interview, Animal Shelter Director Dan Butler said there were
no hard feelings with the move. He said it's understandable the mall would want
to collect rent on the space, which is a popular retail destination.
