SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Saratoga Springs Police Department has arrested an employee of the Saratoga Saddlery on Broadway for allegedly stealing over $35,000 from the downtown store.
Police say 45-year-old Yvette Giovanni of Schuylerville was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for allegedly stealing over $35,000 from the business. Police say she worked as a bookkeeper at Saratoga Saddlery at the time of the alleged thefts.
She has been charged with Grand Larceny 3rd, Falsifying Business Records 1st, and Scheme to Defraud 1st, all felonies, and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail.
"The owners had started looking through their books and found that there were some discrepancies," says Lt. John Catone of the Saratoga Police Department. "There were records that were provided to us by the business owners and sitting down with them and going through the records they were able to pinpoint the discrepancies."
In her court records, there were statements Giovanni made to police admitting to the crime.
"I told Sabine I was sorry and I would make it right if I can. I just need time to pay back the money I took," said one quote.
