NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a 35-year-old woman fell to her death when the railing on her 17th-floor balcony apparently gave way.
Police say Jennifer Rosoff was with a date outside at her corner apartment in midtown Manhattan shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday when she either leaned against or sat on the railing.
Police believe it gave way and she fell, landing on construction scaffolding at ground level. A photo of the balcony shows part of it bent down in a V-shape.
The medical examiner will determine a cause of death.
The city's buildings department was at the scene Thursday examining stability of other balcony railings.
