Cuomo picks new deputy for public safety

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo has chosen a Justice Department official as the administration's new deputy secretary for public safety.
Thomas Abt most recently was chief of staff at the federal Office of Justice Programs.
Formerly an attorney in private practice and assistant district attorney in Manhattan, Abt has a law degree from Georgetown University.
He replaces Elizabeth Glazer, also an ex-prosecutor who was a special counsel to Cuomo as attorney general.
