Parents convicted in connection to 5-year-old's death give up custody rights to infant

Posted:

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - A Glens Falls mother convicted for her role in the death of her 5-year-old son has terminated the custody rights to her other child.

Jennie Mattison waived her custodial rights to her 9-month-old son she had with her ex-boyfriend Brandon Warrington.

Warrington was convicted of beating Mattison's son, 5-year-old Gary Carpenter, to death.

Mattison's attorney says she gave up rights to the infant only after Warrington did the same. The child is now in foster care.

Mattison is serving a sentence of one to three years in prison for one felony count of hindering prosecution.
