Police: Three men rob Albany jewelry store


ALBANY, N.Y. -- Police say they responded to Eden Jewelry in Westgate Plaza at approximately 6:20 p.m. Monday, after an employee reported that three men walked into to the store, holding what appeared to be a handgun.

The employee told police the after the men walked into the store, located at 911 Central Avenue, they ordered him to lie on the ground. The employee told police that when hecomplied, the suspects began to steal jewelry items from the counter.

During the course of the robbery, the employee fired a single shot from a firearm he had located behind the counter. Nobody was shot or injured during the incident.

The suspects then fled the store with an undisclosed amount of jewelry items.

Police say they found a starter pistol in the area, but did not yet know whether or not it had been used by the suspects.

All three suspects are described as black males, approximately 25 years of age, wearing dark clothing.

Police have made no arrests in connection with this incident, but are asking anyone with information to call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
