Police: Gloversville man struck girlfriend, killed cat

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - The Gloversville Police Department has arrested a man for allegedly striking his girlfriend in the face and killing her cat by throwing it against the wall.

Police arrested 18-year-old Allen VanNostrand, of 100 Lincoln Street in Gloversville, after they responded to the home for the report of a domestic disturbance on Sunday afternoon.

Upon arrival at the home, the female said she sustained minor injury after VanNostrand struck her. She also told officers that he killed a cat belonging to her.

The investigation uncovered the dead cat, which police say died after being thrown against the wall with a broken and twisted neck.

The cat's body was found in a Walmart bag in one of the other apartments in the building.

VanNostrand was charged with Assault 3rd-degree and Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and remanded to Fulton County Correctional Facility.
