Body found in Hudson River identified as missing Fort Edward woman

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.Y. – The body that was recovered from the Hudson River after it was spotted in the area of Lock 7 by part of the GE dredging crew was positively identified as Renee Coxon, the Fort Edward woman who had been reported missing earlier this week.

According to Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy, units were dispatched and the body was recovered by members of the South Glens Falls Dive team in the Town of Moreau.  The remains were taken to Saratoga Hospital where the cause of death was determined to be drowning. No foul play is suspected in her death.

Coxon had been reported missing to the Sheriff's Office on Wednesday after she left work unexpectedly. A two-search of the area involved police divers from the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and a State Police helicopter checking the area near the Fennimore Bridge.

The case was being investigated by the South Glens Falls water rescue team, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and the New York State Police.
