1 adult, 2 children shot with BB’s at Scotia daycare

SCOTIA, N.Y. -- Staff at a YMCA day care in Scotia are on alert after three people, including two children, were shot with BB's Thursday.

A letter was sent home to parents from the Lally Early Learning Center saying the incident happened just before 4 p.m. as preschool and school-age children were playing on one of the playgrounds at the 204 S. Ten Broeck Street facility.

A 22-year-old female staff member reported that she was shot twice in the lower body, and that a 9-year-old boy was struck twice in the right leg and a 6-year-old boy was struck once in the neck.  Fortunately, all three victims' injuries were limited to contusions.

Part of the letter states that all staff are on high alert and being asked to be aware of their surroundings at all times.

"We are taking this incident very seriously as this reckless act could have had tragic consequences.  BB guns can cause serious, even fatal, injuries.  We are working diligently to identify and arrest whoever committed this crime," said Scotia Police Chief Pete Frisoni.

Scotia police are investigating, if you have any information, please call #518-384-2244.
