CATSKILL, N.Y. -- State Police in Greene County are warning residents to keep an ear out for an aggressive phone scheme.
Catskill troopers say they were told by a Cairo woman that she received a call Monday from a person demanding ransom in exchange for her kidnapped daughter.
Police determined the whole thing was made up as a way to get money. Similar calls also went out in Ulster County.
Troopers say if you get one of these calls, contact police immediately.
