NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. – A North Greenbush man has been arrested and charged with possession of illegal handguns and an illegal high capacity magazine, police say.
North Greenbush Police arrested 55-year-old Mark R. Cassidy of North Greenbush on Saturday after police responded to a domestic incident at his residence.
Cassidy was found to allegedly be in possession of a loaded .357 magnum revolver and a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a magazine classified as a high capacity magazine according to the New York SAFE Act, as it contained 11 rounds of ammunition.
After an investigation, police discovered that both guns and ammunition were purchased in another state and then brought to New York illegally. Police say both weapons were unregistered and Cassidy did not possess a NYS pistol permit.
He was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third-degree for possessing the high capacity magazine. Cassidy was arraigned and released to probation and will reappear in North Greenbush Town Court on August 6th.
