Argyle motorcyclist suffers spinal fracture, charged with felony DWI

NORTHUMBERLAND, N.Y. – A 39-year-old man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after he struck a guardrail on Wilton-Gansevoort Road while travelling at a high rate of speed on his motorcycle Sunday.

The Saratoga County  Sheriff's Office says Arthur E. Brust, of Argyle, was riding his 2002 Honda motorcycle around a bend in the road when he lost control, slid off the roadway and struck a guardrail. Brust, who suffered multiple unstable fractures to his spine, was transported to Albany Medical Center by helicopter.

After investigation, the Saratoga County  Sheriff's Office, Gansevoort Fire Department and Moreau EMS determined speeding and alcohol involvement to be the cause of the crash. He was also cited for speed not reasonable/prudent.
