ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo's campaign committee has reported raising $6.2 million since January, giving the incumbent Democrat $27.8 million for a 2014 re-election bid.
Friday's filing shows the campaign spent almost $852,000 during the period, including $43,000 at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan in January for a fundraiser and $75,000 for CPS Events at the Plaza for another Manhattan fund raiser last month.
Cuomo spokesmen didn't initially respond when asked why, with that much on hand, he's continuing to raise money.
Hundreds of campaign contributions include $60,000 each from the New York State Beer Wholesalers Political Action Committee, Joynt Ventures LLC of Syracuse and West 33rd St. LLC in Manhattan; and $50,000 each from Elco Master LLC and 134 W 58th LLC in Louisville, Ky., and Access Industries LLC in Manhattan.
