SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Schenectady Police Department has arrested 22-year-old Shawn E. Harris in connection with a robbery at the Key Bank on Eastern Parkway that occurred Friday morning.
Police say that around 11:16 a.m., a female suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed, but one was implied. After leaving the store with an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect jumped on the back of a silver BMX bicycle, which was operated by Harris.
Following further investigation, police arrested Harris, of 425 Hamilton Street and charged him with three felony charges, including one count of Robbery, one count of Assault and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of Resisting Arrest and one misdemeanor count of False Personation.
Police say the assault charge stems from his injuring a police officer during the course of his arrest and the false personation charge is a result of his lying about his identity after being detained by police in the area of Central Park shortly after the robbery took place.
The female suspect has been identified, but that information will not be released as she is 14-years-old. They also say that she still at large and is also wanted on an outstanding Family Court warrant.
