GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - The Gloversville Police Department has charged a man for assaulting another man with a rock for allegedly being abusive to a female.

Police responded to the area of South Main and Broad Street Thursday around 7:45 p.m. for the report of a possible stabbing. Police say 36-year-old Joshua Coadney of Gloversville allegedly lured the victim, a 49-year-old male, onto the rail tracks and accused him of assaulting a female. He then allegedly struck the victim in the head with a rock in his hand, then pulled out a knife and threatened the victim with it.

Police say they have received no report of a female being assault.

The victim walked to a nearby residence for assistance and was then transported to the hospital for treatment.

After police received a description of the suspect, Coadney was seen in the parking lot of Country Farms and taken into custody where police say he admitted the assault.

He has been charged with Assault 2nd-degree and Menacing 2nd-degree and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $30,000 cash bail.
