Four arrested en route to Camp Bisco Music Festival

CHATHAM, N.Y. -- Two separate traffic stops on the Thruway Wednesday ended with the arrest of four out-of-state residents on various drug charges.

State Police stopped a 2000 Infinity for driving 94 mph on I-90 in the Town of Chatham. After detecting an odor of marijuana from within the vehicle, troopers searched the vehicle and discovered 9.6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 1.6 grams of concentrated cannabis, and 27.5 grams of marijuana along with two smoking pipes and a metal grinder, all of which were found in a duffel bag belonging to the passenger.

Ming Rogers, 21, and Phillip Cheney, 21, both of Marblehead, Mass. were arrested. Rogers, the passenger, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth and seventh-degrees, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana fifth-degree. Cheney, the driver, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.

Rogers was arraigned in the Town of Chatham Court and released on $1000 cash bail. Cheney was released on an appearance ticket.

Later that night, State Police stopped a 2007 Audi for driving 87 mph on I-87 in the Town of Bethlehem. In a similar situation, troopers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana. They discovered a glass vile containing 36 milligrams of phencyclidine (PCP), 4 plastic containers with .1 grams of concentrated cannabis oil in each, 2 electronic cigarettes containing concentrated cannabis oil, and a small amount of bath salts, all of which were found in the driver's side door compartment.

Kiki M. Ferguson, 23, of Cos Cob, Conn., and Luis E. Duboy-Astorga, 23, of Riverside, Conn. were arrested. Ferguson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third and seventh-degrees, and Public Health Law 229. Duboy-Astorga was charged with Controlled Substance in the seventh-degree. The driver of the car was not charged.

Both subjects were arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court and committed to the Albany County Jail on bail.

All subjects said they were en route to the Camp Bisco Music Festival in Duanesburg.
