Whitehall road closed as officials verify stability
WHITEHALL, N.Y. – Village of Whitehall officials have closed North Williams Street from Saunders Street north to the Finch & Chubb restaurant until further notice.
Village officials are in the process of working with outside agencies to verify the stability of the rocky area above the east side of North Williams Street off the edge of Cliff Street.
Area residents may access from either side (Doig Street / County Route 9 to the North and Saunders Street to the South) of the roadway but may not access the area of the closure.
A reverse emergency notification call was deployed by the Washington County Department of Public Safety on behalf of village officials to residents in the immediate area of the closing advising of the situation.
