Donna Y. McGlothlin (Warren County Sheriff’s Office)
QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Following an investigation by the Warren County Sheriff's Office, a Glens Falls woman was arrested when investigators discovered that while working as a home health aide, she stole a piece of jewelry valued at approximately $5,000 from the man she was assisting.
Police say in December 2012, 58-year-old Donna Y. McGlothlin, of 34 Walnut Street, was working for a Queensbury man who was expecting the jewelry, a Gabrielle diamond pendent, to be delivered to his residence. The man had purchased the pendant several days earlier from Achenbach's Jewelers in Glens Falls. Police say the store owner personally delivered the jewelry to his residence, leaving it with McGlothlin after she answered the door of his residence.
On June 3rd, Glens Falls Police were called to Achenbach's Jewelers after receiving a suspicious activity complaint. Police say the owner became suspicious of two individuals attempting to sell jewelry at the store when she recognized the piece of the jewelry as being the same Gabrielle pendant she had sold to the Queensbury man months earlier. When police interviewed the two individuals, they learned that they were selling the jewelry at the request of McGlothlin.
The Gabrielle pendant was recovered and McGlothlin was charged with a felony count of Grand Larceny 3rd-degree.
McGlothlin is presently incarcerated in the Warren County Correctional Facility on other charges. She was arraigned in Queensbury Court on the Grand Larceny charge and returned to the correctional facility in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation.
Neither of the two individuals who attempted to sell the pendant were charged with criminal conduct.
