BETHLEHEM, N.Y. – When State Police stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on the New York State Thruway Monday, they discovered the driver to be under the influence of Ketamine and in possession of an additional 3 grams of the dissociative anesthetic.

Troopers arrest 22-year-old Xuan Chen, of South Burlington, Vermont and charged him with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree.  He was arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or bond.

Ketamine is known to have some hallucinogenic effects and distort the perception of sight and sound, making the user feel disconnected and not in control.
