ALBANY, N.Y. – The Salvation Army in Albany sponsored a free mass food distribution Tuesday morning for its hunger relief efforts.
The goal of the distribution, held from 8:45-11 a.m. in the parking lot of The Salvation Army at 20 South Ferry Street in Albany, was to give people healthier food options.
Nutritious food staples such as fruits, vegetables and dairy products were offered to the Albany community free of charge.
The Salvation Army, working in collaboration with Trinity Alliance and The Regional Food Bank, not only fed hundreds of people, it was also educational for some, teaching parents how to feed their children healthy meals.
More events such as this are expected to be held throughout the summer.
