WILTON, N.Y. – One week after a Wilton woman's dog ran away, she's trying a unique way to get it back.
On July 1st, a 6-year-old beagle named Bailey got loose and ran away from her home near Wilton with her brother Reno. Reno returned home that night, but Bailey never did.
"My house is empty and it doesn't feel like home anymore without her there," Bailey's owner, Cindy Vincek-Robbins, said. "I can't sleep or eat; I've been sleeping because of pure exhaustion."
Now Vincek-Robbins has called in help from New Jersey in the form of a pet detective.
Jordina Ghaggeri started working for Lost Pet Professionals after her own dog disappeared almost two years ago and she realized there were others like her that could use the help.
"What kind of a sign, what should it look. Like, I didn't even hear about tracking dogs and we were so far deep," she said of her own experience
Ghaggeri came to New York with her three scent-sniffing dogs with a goal of bringing Bailey home. Armed with Bailey's collar, they will search the area where she was last spotted by a neighbor.
The dogs, Ruckus, Brody and Nash, each have valuable skills in following scents in the air and on the ground.
Vincek-Robbins hopes her neighbors might know something after one person claimed they saw her roaming a golf course last week.
"Dogs don't disappear. She didn't melt, she's there somewhere," Vincek-Robbins said.
Bailey is described as a tri-colored Beagle, but mostly black. She's sweet, but shy according to her owner. If you have any information please call her owner at 584-6408, 232-8650, or 409-2110.
