ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany's senior wide receiver standout Kevin Chillis has earned a spot on the has earned a spot on the 2013 College Football Performance Awards' Kickoff Returner Award Watch List.
The CFPA, the largest awards organization in Division I college football, announced the 34 returning kick return specialists and 32 returning all-purpose performers to have made the preliminary list Monday.
"Chillis is a multifarious scoring threat for the Great Danes," said Brad Smith, CFPA executive director.
Last season, Chillis was a two-time Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and ranked second on the team with 901 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns. The incoming senior made 11 kickoff returns, averaging 27.5 yards per return, including a 79-yard touchdown in a wine over Central Connecticut State.
Chillis joins defensive backs Justinian Mason, a sophomore, and Tramaine Wilson, a senior, as well as redshirt junior quarterback Will Fiacchi, as the fourth UAlbany player to be named to the 2013 CFPA Watch List.
All CFPA recipients are selected based on how their performance increases the overall effectiveness of their teams. More than 130 CFPA recipients have gone on to sign professional contracts, 21 of whom have been first-round NFL Draft selections.
