Autopsy results released in Schaghticoke homicide

SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. – The initial autopsy results for Cynthia Matala and Michael Matala, who are alleged to have been brutally attacked by Cynthia's son July 4, reveal that both victims suffered severe skull fractures and brain injuries due to blunt force trauma.

New York State Police say 22-year-old Anthony Repp is still in the custody of Deerfield Police in connection with the homicide of his 62-year-old stepfather and 58-year-old mother, who were found on the front lawn of their 1445 State Route 40 residence Thursday night.

Michael was immediately transported to St. Mary's Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Cynthia, who suffered severe head injuries, was also transported to Samaritan Hospital before being transferred to Albany Medical Center Hospital in critical condition. She remained on life support there until succumbing to her injuries Friday night.

New York State Police are now in the process of having Repp extradited to New York, where he will be charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree. State Police say they expect the extradition proceedings to begin Monday.
