SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Two men have been arrested in Saratoga Springs and charged with burglarizing a home on the eastside and going through over 75 vehicles in a ten-block area.
Police say they were called to the area of Patricia Lane for a report of a suspicious vehicle in which two men had exited and seen walking around the neighborhood around 4:15 a.m. Thursday.
Officers responded to the area but upon arrival found the suspicious vehicle had left the area. At 5 a.m. officers responded to the area of Elizabeth Lane for a similar report of a suspicious vehicle.
The vehicle fitting the description was stopped on Henning Road just before Union Avenue at that time. The officer began speaking with the subjects - identified as 22-year-old Miles Hawes of Watervliet and 23-year-old Daniel Clow of Latham - and quickly realized that these were the subjects in question. Police also noticed items in the vehicle that looked suspicious in nature.
An investigation revealed Hawes and Clow were responsible for burglarizing a house on the eastside and going through over 75 cars in an area that covered Lake Avenue south to Fifth Avenue, and East Avenue east to the Northway overpass.
The vehicle in question was impounded and items were secured that are associated to the burglary and larcenies.
They both face multiples charges of Grand Larceny, Burglary, Criminal Tampering, and Petit Larceny.
The police department is asking for anyone who may have been a victim of a burglary or larceny from a vehicle during the night, in the above mentioned area, to contact the police department at 584-1800.
