Teen killed in Milton motorcycle accident, 2nd motorcyclist arrested
MILTON, N.Y. – A 19-year-old man was killed Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a guiderail, and now the teen riding with him at the time has been charged.
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says Thomas E. Jansen of Burnt Hills was ejected from his motorcycle after he lost control and it collided with a guiderail on Route 67 in the town of Milton.
Jansen was transported to Ellis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
During the investigation, the Sheriff's Office says it was discovered that another motorcyclist was traveling with the victim. Authorities say 18-year-old Alex J. Gage of Glenville was operating a motorcycle with a permit along with Jansen. With the permit, he was required to stay in close proximity to Jansen, but investigators say he did not stop when the crash occurred. Gage also failed to report the accident and left the scene.
Gage has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Accident, a felony, Operating Out of Class and Unregistered Motorcycle.
He will appear in Milton Town Court on July 14th at 4 p.m.
