FORT PLAIN, N.Y. -- Entire streets in Fort Plain have homes that have been condemned after last week's flooding.

Many homes are off their foundations, or simply wiped off the map.

Don Faling showed NEWS CENTER where the mud and water swept thru his Fort Plain home. He and his wife had to scramble up the hill behind their home when rising waters rushed through the village and carried with it homes and cars.

On Monday, their daughter helped toss out most of their belongings. Even their cats were covered in the thick mud that's thought to be contaminated with sewage and fuel oil.

The question now, is how to recover from this, and what's covered by insurance? The Faling's say they do have flood insurance, but they've already discovered everything not secured to the foundation is not covered.
