COHOES, N.Y. -- Crews have started disassembling the existing Black Bridge deck in Cohoes, a project that will continue until September.
After the disassembling is complete, repairs will be made to the piers and steel work.
The majority of the staging for the project is taking place on the Green Island end of the bridge. Officials ask drivers to not try and access the bridge until the construction is complete. Anyone found on the bridge or in the construction area will be charged with trespassing.
When completed, the bridge will connect the Delaware Avenue Trail to the Mohawk Hudson Trail in Green Island. This will provide direct access on the Mohawk Hudson Trail to Peebles island State Park and the Champlain Bike Hike Trail.
