National Grid warns against potential schemes

ALBANY, N.Y. – National Grid is advising customers to be aware of potential schemers going door-to-door offering services in exchange for a fee.

National Grid crews will never ask customers for payment to inspect equipment or restore services. If an individual does claim to be offering services on behalf of National Grid, customers are being reminded to ask to see identification.

Customers who are approached by anyone claiming to be a National Grid employee asking for payment to reconnect electrical or natural gas services, is asked to contact local authorities and report the incident to National Grid.
