Police identify man's body found in Hudson River

WAPPINGER FALLS, N.Y. - State Police say they have identified the male body discovered in the Hudson River in Dutchess County last week.

Police say the body of 53-year-old Michael Reiner was discovered in the river on June 27th. Reiner had been living at a half-way house in Brooklyn after being released from prison where he served a 78-month term for possessing child pornography with a subsequent five year probation term.

His body appeared to have been in the river for an extended period of time. Reiner last made contact with his family at the end of May and has not had any known contact since that time.

The injuries observed at the time of the autopsy are consistent with a fall from a high structure, police say, and are not indicative of an assault.

The final determination of death by the Medical Examiner is currently pending toxicology results.
