Officials to hold briefing on Montgomery County flooding

CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. - State Police, the Montgomery County Sherriff's Office, Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management, Fort Plain Police Department and Fort Plain Fire Department will hold a press briefing at noon Friday at the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department on Erie Blvd.

State and local officials will provide an update on rescue efforts, water levels and property damage as a result of flooding in the Village of Fort Plain, Montgomery County.

A flash flood emergency has been issued in western Fulton County, southern Herkimer County including the areas of Mohawk, Fairfield, Little Falls, Ilion and Herkimer, and western Montgomery County including the areas of Canajoharie, Fort Plain, and St. Johnsville.
