Old records found in ceiling of Saratoga Springs City Hall

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Century-old records linked to a powerful state lawmaker have been found stashed in the ceiling of Saratoga Springs City Hall.
According to The Saratogian, Mike King, the city's tax collector, says that he found numerous dust-covered, document-filled boxes after checking out what was above the drop ceiling in his office. The documents are the personal records of Edgar Truman Brackett, whose law office was located in city hall in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Brackett was a state senator who founded a bank across the street from city hall. His son, Charles Brackett, was an Oscar-winning screenwriter and producer whose film credits include "Sunset Boulevard" and "The King and I."
The bank's current president says the documents will be cleaned, scanned and digitized before they're handed back to the city.
