Assemblyman Tedisco offers free ice cream for bike safety

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Assemblyman Jim Tedisco will be promoting his 2013 Safe Summer Bike Helmet program today and offering free ice cream.

Tedisco is partnering with 10 police departments in Saratoga and Schenectady Counties to distribute "good tickets" for free ice cream to reward children who wear their helmets while bicycling, skateboarding and rollerblading.

In addition, the law firm, Martin, Harding and Mazzotti will be donating new bike helmets to police departments in the Capital Region to distribute to children who need them.

Tedisco will be joined by the supervisors of Clifton Park and Glenville as well as police, parents and kids. The "good tickets" for free ice cream will be passed out at two separate events.

Tedisco will be at the Clifton Common in front of the ice arena at the Clifton Park Summer Camp at 10:30 a.m.  and at the Glenville Police Department at 3 p.m.

The Safe Summer program is supported by donations from Stewart's Shops, Friendly's and Ben & Jerry's.
