ALBANY, N.Y. -- A former Albany County corrections officer and two others have pleaded guilty to charges related to a nationwide gambling ring.
James Cerniglia, who was a corrections officer at the time of his arrest, along with Christopher Socola and Joseph Carucci pleaded guilty to promoting gambling in exchange for cooperating with the remainder of the investigation.
Cerniglia also agreed to never work at the Albany County Correctional Facility again.
Two other defendants were charged in the investigation, and the case against them remains open.
