Johnstown man struck & killed while riding bike

JOHNSTOWN, N.Y. - A Johnstown man was struck and killed by a car while riding his bicycle on Route 29A in the town of Johnstown Tuesday morning.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office says 55-year-old Edward Lakata was riding his bike north from his home in Johnstown to his camp on Caroga Lake when he was struck around 9:30 a.m.

Lakata was husband of Johnstown Councilperson Cindy Lakata and was in a popular local band called Skyler's Dream Team.

Sheriff Thomas Lorey says no tickets have been issued against the driver at this time.

The investigation is on-going.
