Pilot in Ohio air crash has local roots

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – Pilot Charlie Schwenker, who was killed in Saturday's plane crash at an Ohio air show, graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1966.

After graduating from Clarkson University, the 64-year-old pilot moved to Virginia, but his brother still remains a resident of Queensbury.

Charlie Schwenker, 64, and 44-year-old Jane Wicker, a wing walker, were both killed when the plane Schwenker was piloting plummeted to the ground in a fiery crash at a southwestern Ohio air show. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the crash that occurred while Schwenker and Wicker were in the middle of an inverted wing walker maneuver.
