NYRA announces plans for 2013 season

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association held a press conference Monday to announce the plans for the 2013 meet at Saratoga Race Course.

Senior executives from NYRA discussed the stakes and racing schedule, marketing promotions and special events, new on-track attractions and the horsemen, jockeys and thoroughbreds expected for the season.

NYRA unveiled its lineup of signature Saratoga giveaways:

  • July 28th—Saratoga short-sleeve T-shirt
  • Aug 11th—Bobblehead of thoroughbred Fourstardave
  • Aug 18th—Saratoga Baseball Cap
  • Sept 1st—Saratoga beer stein

NYRA announced that twilight racing would be reduced to one night in response to traffic concerns from downtown merchants and a new free shuttle from the nearby Saratoga casino and raceway to track will be offered to alleviate parking issues.

The 2013 racing season takes place from July 19 to Labor Day, September 2. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the first organized race meet in 1863.
