ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – Two Rotterdam businessmen have been arrested and charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property.
State Police in Princetown arrested Joseph Delefano and Richard Poltorak for felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th-degree. Delefano was also charged with the felony of Falsifying Business Records in the 1st-degree.
The two men own and operate Regency Jewelers in Rotterdam, and state police investigators were able to develop information concerning stolen property following the investigation of the residential burglary of New York State Assemblyman Peter Lopez' residence that occurred in April 2013. Stolen property from the burglary was located at their store and the two refused to release it to investigators. According to police, this impeded the recovery of the stolen property by its rightful owner.
A search warrant was executed, with the assistance of the Rotterdam Police Department, at Regency Jewelers and the stolen property was recovered. Both men were issued appearance tickets to appear in Rotterdam Court.
