NYC teacher arrested on 2nd-degree rape charge

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a teacher at a Bronx elementary school teacher has been arrested on charges accusing him of raping a 10-year-old girl in a car.

Anthony Criscuolo was arrested at 10 a.m. Wednesday on rape and sex assault charges.

A Department of Education spokeswoman says the 40-year-old Criscuolo is a fifth-grade special education teacher at Public School 386.

He has been reassigned to a non-teaching position, and the department is seeking his termination.

Police say the alleged victim told her mother the teacher lured her into the car on Monday. The mother alerted authorities.

Information on an attorney for Criscuolo was not immediately available.
