QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - A Queensbury woman was handed a check for $1 million from the New York Lottery on Monday.
The Lottery presented the winner, Jean Reilly, with a $1 million prize from a recent Sweet Million drawing in Schenectady Monday morning. The winning ticket was purchased from the Hannaford Supermarket on Quaker Road in Queensbury.
Reilly explained, "I went to Hannaford to pick up something for lunch and to pick up an item I forgot with my regular grocery shopping earlier in the week. After I paid for my groceries, I had change of a dollar bill and the Lottery vending machine was right there, so I bought a Sweet Million ticket."
She said she checked her ticket online the next day and that's when she knew she was a winner.
Reilly will receive her winnings in one lump sum totaling $661,800 after required withholdings.
Her plans for the money include making a trip to Florida to visit her son and to make some investments for the future.
