WATERFORD, N.Y. - Due to the flooding caused be recent heavy rains the Waterford Harbor Farmers Market is canceled this Sunday.
The market opened last Sunday for it's 6th season. The market runs June through October in front of the Waterford Visitor Center along the Erie Canal.
"There is always some risk of flooding down here" said market manager, Jeanne Grebert. "Most of the time we have a beautiful spot for the market, mother nature just isn't cooperating with us this week. We are working on a contingency plan, should this happen again." The market was closed due to flooding for several weeks after Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 and once in October of 2010.
