UTICA, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Utica are asking the public for help finding a 9-month-old boy missing for more than two weeks.
Amy Warney, the mother of Levon Wameling of Utica, cried as she joined police at a news conference Thursday seeking help. Police are asking area residents to check their property for the missing baby.
The baby's father, 27-year-old Jevon Wameling, reported the boy missing Tuesday.
The father told police that he left his child unattended for a few minutes in front of his home on Jay Street while he went around to unlock the back door late on the night of May 29.
Police say Wameling said by the time he got into the house and opened the front door, the baby was missing.
Police told the Observer-Dispatch of Utica that the father has since asked for an attorney and has not talked to investigators.
Anyone that knows the whereabouts of this child, or knows what happened to him to please call 223-3503, 223-3510, or 735-3301.
