BERLIN, N.Y. – State Police say a woman was killed in an accident on Route 22 in Berlin Thursday night.

State Police Brunswick confirmed the accident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Thursday when a 2005 Chrysler being operated by 22-year-old Douglas Homiak II, of Berlin, was driving south on Route 22 in the vicinity of Bly Hollow Road and failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway and traveled across the west shoulder, striking 62-year-old Kay Kraft, of Berlin.

Kraft was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield where she was pronounced dead.

Police say visibility and road conditions were poor at the time of the accident due to heavy rains in the area.  The investigation is on-going.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Schodack State Police BCI at (518) 732-4644.

The driver of the vehicle was questioned, but no charges have been filed at this time.
