Local man killed in Afghanistan to be honored with motorcade

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- The remains of law enforcement professional Joseph Morabito will return to the Capital Region Friday.

He will be honored in a motorcade from Saugerties to Hunter, N.Y.

Morabito was a retired police officer working in Afghanistan as a security contractor for a private company.  He was just days shy of his 55th birthday, when he and 40-year army Lieutenant Colonel Todd Clark, a CBA grad, and 39-year-old Army Major Jamie Leonard were killed last Saturday.

Services for Morabito will be held on both Saturday and Sunday at the Aston-Basagic Funeral Home in Hunter.

On Monday morning there will be a catholic mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Haines Falls with full military service.
