LATHAM, N.Y. -- The Humane Society has announced Free Felines for Father's Day to help celebrate national "Adopt a Shelter Cat Month."
Every cat over 6-months old will be free, and cats less than 6 months will be half-price on Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16. In addition, all cats and kittens adopted this weekend will have a free microchip.
The offer is also available at the satellite adoption centers at PetSmart stores in Latham and Glenmont and the Petco on Clifton Park, as well as all off-site adoption clinics including Curtis Lumber's Pet-A-Palooza.
The Society has cats of every breed, age and personality looking for a loving home. Every cat ready for adoption has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated for distemper and rabies, tested for feline leukemia, de-wormed, and treated with flea and tick preventative. All animals also go home with 30 days of pet insurance.
"Right now, we have 273 cats and kittens in need of forever homes. They are here in Menands and at our three satellite locations and 138 are in foster care. Last year at this same time, we had 252 felines in our care," stated Executive Director Brad Shear. "We are dedicated to giving each and every one of them the very best care possible and that means finding new homes for them as quickly as we can. This time of year there is a steady influx of pregnant cats, strays and kittens, with more coming in tomorrow and every day all spring and summer."
