JOHNSONVILLE, N.Y. – The Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company has received a check for $21,000 from the Brookfield Renewable Energy Group to purchase new swift water rescue equipment, including special suits, a stretcher, ropes and water lines.
"Brookfield's generous donation will allow us to purchase fundamental equipment including a water rescue kit, special suits for cold water rescue, a stretcher system, flotation devices, ropes and water lines – all that will comply with mandated specifications," said Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Shane Napoli.
The equipment will be invaluable if there is ever a need to conduct a water rescue in or around Brookfield's Johnsonville and Schaghticoke hydropower dams.
The Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1916, and serves the towns of Pittstown and Schaghticoke.
