Baby in Utica reported missing

UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a 9-month-old child.

Police say Levon Wameling was reported missing by his father, 27-year-old Jevon Wameling, on Tuesday night.

The father told police that he left his child unattended for a few minutes in front of his home on Jay Street while he went around to unlock the back door late on the night of May 29.

Police say Wameling said by the time he got into the house and opened the front door, the baby was missing.

Police say he did not report the child missing until family members asked about the child.

Police say the child's mother was in rehab when her baby disappeared.

We are asking anyone that knows the whereabouts of this child, or knows what happened to him to please call 223-3503, 223-3510, or 735-3301.
