EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – East Greenbush firefighters worked for three hours to rescue a trapped cat from underneath a pile of rubble; now the question remains, who owns this brave cat?
A person driving by Eastern Ave. in East Greenbush saw the cat in the rain and tried to save it, but the cat ran into the woods and into a pile of construction debris where it ended up being trapped underground.
Firefighters at the Clinton Heights Fire Department said the cat found a small entry point and became trapped underneath concrete slabs.
Members of the technical operations team had to use a small camera to locate the cat and then used a rake to clear out the concrete. The heavy rains caused the ground to become very saturated, so the firefighters had to work with extra precaution to ensure that nothing around the cat collapsed.
Firefighters said the cat was exhausted and needed oxygen once she was rescued, but they were determined to save the cat so that she would not have to spend the night underground.
The cat was handed over to the bystander. No possible owner has come forward at this time.
